Will You Join Me?
I’ve mentioned a couple of times here and there that I’ve already been looking ahead to what my New Year’s Resolutions for 2011 will be. Some of my top resolutions will be in regards to my role as a Christian wife and mother.
I have been frustrated in many areas this year, feeling that I fall short in more ways than one. It’s not that I don’t love my husband and children, I love them with all my heart, but sometimes it just seems that there’s more that I should do. Does this make sense?
So, this brings me to “As Unto the Lord” – a book that I recently bought and am eager to read as I strive to be a better wife in 2011. With the Lord’s help, I pray this book helps draw me closer to Him in my role as a wife, as closer to my husband.
I know that when I honor my husband as my authority from the Lord that I’m honoring the Lord, and have already found such a new found love for him by realizing this!
I know that there are many wives out there that either are NOT happy in their marriages and are struggling to make things work (been there, done that), or ARE happy but want to dig deeper into Scripture and learn more about becoming the wife God wants us to be.
“As Unto the Lord”, written by Pam Forster, is “a tool for wives who want to glorify God”. The book is a study of submission based on God’s Word and the Westminster Larger Catechism.
I’ll tell you, within just a minute, I was already under conviction as I read over the first few pages. Under conviction not from words written by Pam, but words from Scripture!
Explore questions such as:
* Do I set an example before my children of proper submission to the authority of my husband? Would they consider me an obedient and respectful wife?
* Do I invest thought, time, and energy in pleasing my husband?
* Do I treat my husband the same way at home as I do in public?
* Do I recognize and seek to fulfill my God-given role as helper to my husband?
As Unto the Lord includes:
* A short set of questions and relevant Scripture passages for daily review. Prayerfully examine our attitudes and actions in the light of God’s Word.
* Suggested Bible study projects and helpful forms to aid a woman in a serious study of God’s calling for her life.
*An in-depth, expanded series of almost 200 questions, each followed by Scripture which explains what God commands of us as wives.
Patterned after The Westminster Larger Catechism’s teaching on the Fifth Commandment, these questions are ideal for:
- Personal study when you know you’re straying from God’s design for wives
- Study with daughters as they learn to submit to parents and prepare to submit to their future husbands
- A group study with other wives; as counseling material or a helpful gift for a discouraged or rebellious wife.
Scripture quotations are from the KJV translation. Spiral-bound for easy use.
Use this book to help you:
* Identify areas of sin and negligence
* Memorize Scripture as a defense against the temptations unique to wives
* Pray for God’s guidance and changing power in your life
Again, I as mentioned, going through this books is one of my New Year’s Resolutions, and I’d like to invite YOU to join me! Being a Godly wife and helpmeet to our husbands is no small task, and what an encouragement to know that you aren’t going through it alone.
I was so impressed with this book that I’ve added it to the product line at Sonbeams, yes, this means I stand behind it and I truly believe you will feel the same!
I’d also like to invite you to join a Yahoo group I set up for Sonbeams’ parents - for encouragement as we seek to fulfil God’s role for us as spouses and parents. It’s brand new, so introduce yourselves!

I would love to order this book, but can not pay for it this week. When do you have to place the order?
I’ll be placing the order next week, but can go on a commitment to order if that helps.
You won’t have to pay until it ships, which will be around Christmas.
That would be awesome! Thank you! I definately want one.
